![]() ![]() It feels like a weird thing in the game, because so many of the other parts of the game are very clearly carrying positive and negative aspects and they feel pretty good. I get the impression that Dark Damage on cursed weapons is supposed to be part of the appeal because of how it interacts with elemental effects, but it never really feels like enough to justify taking one (and there's no guarantee you'll be able to take advantage of it anyway, unless you consistently whack enemies with your torch). This would be fine as a kind of challenge mode or just a more risky form of play, but even when you do actually get something that makes the positive affix work, the cursed weapons aren't necessarily better than a very rare weapon. ![]() ![]() What this does is creates a situation where you deliberately impair yourself by taking a cursed weapon with no guarantee that you'll get the benefit that a cursed weapon might give you. Losing gold when attacking, taking more damage, etc are 'always on'. Many of the positive affixes (but not all) are conditional, and rely on finding cursed relics, other cursed weapons, weapons with affixes, and so on.īy comparison to the positive affixes, the negative ones are (mostly) constant. Like you compare the basic dagger 35+80ish or the mace doing 35+40ish with the DEX scalling, so far I haven't gotten much outmatching this :vĪm I missing something important about them beside the "fun" added value ?Ī lot of their appeal seems to rely on a gamble that the positive affix will be better than the negative affix *and* be better than a non-cursed alternative. It's not rare to have the most basic dagger having 35+80ish with the perception scalling. Some of them seem decent gameplay-wise rather than stat-wise (like the golem shield or the bow and 1 spear providing new moves).Įven tho, comparing this to a basic dagger that does +3% per point of perception, looks like a no brainer. I rarely find cursed relics and don't hang around with 4 curses. I can guess the scaling can be interesting such as +20%dmg per curse or +40% dmg per cursed relics but this is very.situational.? They don't scale spectacularly with the weapons upgrade you can pay for in the temple and so far I haven't gotten one scaling with the attributes. I am about 30h in and on the way to do the last 3 runs of the game and I still have a hard time figuring the appeal of cursed weapons considering how rare they are. ![]()
